Obsolescence management in electronics
Obsolescence occurs when components or materials are no longer available. This becomes a problem for products that rely on these components. It is particularly critical for applications requiring extensive qualification, as changes are costly. The reality ist that obsolescence strikes unexpectedly, forcing companies to scramble for solutions under pressure. This reactive approach wastes time, ties up caital, and consumes development resources.
Obsolescence management has been proven to reduce these risks. The key is a standardized process that combines proactive and reactive elements. This not only helps prevent problems but also limits their impact should they occur nonetheless.
This seminar goes beyond theory. You'll learn the standards and methodologies outlined in IEC 62402 and apply them directly. In hands-on workshops, you'll screen a sample BOM for obsolescence risks, conduct structured risk assessments, and develop a concrete action plan.
Armed with this knowledge, you can assess the extent to which your company is currently identifying such risks at all - or identifying them correctly - and determine what measures are necssary to A) take action yourself (product analysis and development screening) and B) work with your EMS provider to implement professional, automated market monitoring for your components. As always, the rule is: You don't have to - and can't - do everything yourself, but you must understand what you need in order to address it.
In summary: Obsolescence management reduces the risk of failure, prevents costly emergency redesigns, and secures supply chains. Companies that implement this systematically report measurable savings through faster problem-solving and reduced training costs. Your team acts proactively rather than reactively.

If you cancel your registration between 28 and 14 days before the start of the seminar / course (only possible in writing by mail, email, or fax - the date of receipt applies), a cancellation fee of 30 % of the total invoice amount will be charged. After that the full amount must be paid in any case. In case of no-show or late cancellation, there is no entitlement to a refund of the participation fee.
The organizer reserves the right to cancel the seminar date even after confirmation of registration has been received with a refund of the fees.
